Guide
Vacuuming is 80 percent of it
Most of what ruins a carpet is dry, sharp and removable for free.
- 1
Dry soil is the majority of what is in your carpet, and it is abrasive. It cuts fiber every time someone walks on it.
- 2
Slow passes beat many fast ones. The machine needs time to pull air through the pile.
- 3
Twice a week on traffic lanes, once a week elsewhere, and more with pets.
- 4
Set the beater bar height to the pile. Too low damages the carpet and stalls airflow.
- 5
Change the bag or empty the bin at half full — suction drops off long before it looks full.
- 6
A walk-off mat at every outside door stops the majority of it at the threshold.
If something has gone past the point where this helps, that is what we are for — and if cleaning genuinely will not fix it, we will tell you that instead of selling you a job.
