FAQ

The questions we actually get asked.

Including the ones with answers you might not want to hear — pet odor in particular is not always fixable by cleaning, and we would rather say so here than on your living room floor.

How long will my carpet take to dry?

Usually four to eight hours, and you can walk on it in clean socks almost straight away. Airflow matters more than anything else — if you can run ceiling fans and crack a couple of windows, it will be at the short end of that. We leave air movers on traffic lanes and stairs where it helps.

Will the stains come back?

Sometimes a spot reappears a day or two later. That is wicking: the stain went deeper than the pile, into the backing, and as the carpet dries it travels back up. It is not a failure of the clean and it is straightforward to fix. Call us inside 14 days and we will come back and re-treat it free.

Is it safe for my pets and my kids?

Yes, once it is dry. We use products chosen to be safe in a home with children and animals, and we rinse the carpet back to a neutral pH rather than leaving cleaning solution in the fiber. Keep pets off it while it dries, mostly so they do not track soil back across a damp carpet.

Do I need to move my furniture?

Move the small, breakable and precious things — lamps, electronics, anything on a low shelf. We will move ordinary furniture like sofas, chairs and coffee tables, and put protective blocks and tabs underneath as it goes back. We do not move beds, large wall units, pianos or anything with a glass top.

Why is hot-water extraction better than the machine I can rent?

It is a question of heat, pressure and vacuum. A rental unit has a fraction of all three, so it puts more water into the carpet than it can pull back out — which leaves detergent in the fiber and a carpet that is wet for a day and re-soils within weeks. Our equipment recovers far more than it puts down.

Can you get pet odor out completely?

Often, but be wary of anyone who promises it every time without looking. Urine passes through the carpet into the pad and sometimes into the subfloor. If it is in the pad, surface cleaning will not solve it and we will tell you honestly what it would take — which may mean replacing pad in that area. We would rather lose the job than take your money for something that will not work.

How often should carpet be cleaned?

Every 12 to 18 months for a typical household, every 6 to 12 with pets, young children or a busy entry. Most carpet manufacturers require professional hot-water extraction on roughly that cycle to keep the warranty valid, so it is worth checking yours.

What areas do you cover?

The Kansas City metro on both sides of the state line — Kansas City, Lee’s Summit, Independence, Blue Springs and Overland Park, Olathe, Lenexa, Shawnee among others. If you are not sure whether you are in range, ask. If we cannot reach you we will say so rather than adding a travel charge.

Are you insured?

Yes. We carry general liability insurance and can send a certificate straight to a property manager or HOA if one is needed before we start.

How do I get a price?

Use the estimator on this site for an instant range, or send us the rooms and we will come back with a firm number. Either way the price is confirmed in person before anything is unpacked, and you are free to change your mind at that point at no cost.

Something we have not covered?

Send us a photo of the problem area and we will tell you honestly what can be done with it.
